Playoffs begin Monday night at the Prince Williams Ice Center with the matchup of Colgan and West Potomac. West Potomac is the three-time league champion. The team finished third in the North Division and is expected to perform well moving forward. However, tomorrow night’s game is a tossup. Colgan is a stronger team than what its record reflects. Colgan has yet to claim a title but is considered a team to watch this postseason.
Tuesday night’s game is also set to be played at the Prince Williams Ice Center. George Mason/Edison/Hayfield will take on the newest CSHL addition, Woodbridge. This is Woodbridge’s first season competing in the CSHL. The team has performed well thus far, finishing the regular season in third behind Robinson in the South Division.
WT Woodson and Lake Braddock/Park View will face-off Wednesday night at the Mount Vernon RECenter. Both teams are powerhouses in their divisions. Lake Braddock/Park View has Charlie Wojcik who has racked up enough points in half a season to put him at second in scoring. Riley Burch, goalie for Lake Braddock/Park View, will be up against Payton Andrews, skater for WT Woodson. Burch had a solid season in the net, but Andrews, fourth in league scoring, is bound to pose a threat.
The games played this week and next Tuesday will set up the second round of playoffs where the top four seeds wait to be challenged. TC Williams leads the league just ahead of Washington-Lee, West Springfield, and Robinson. All four teams earned a direct ticket to the final 8.
